A woman and child sit on an old mattress with dozens of others at the Abu Salim detention centre in #tripoli , #libya .
Conditions at the centre are poor, with dozens of people crowded into small spaces on old mattresses. The Libyan soldiers guarding the detention centre claimed that children are taken out into a courtyard located at the centre daily, but one child interviewed said they are only taken outside once every four days. Because of the centre’s location Tripoli, it is frequently visited by journalists and general conditions appear far less desperate than those in the countryside. In spite of this, migrants are locked in their rooms for almost 24 hours per day.
