I read Shauna Niequist’s thoughts on community in “Bittersweet” this weekend and all these sweet smiling faces (and then some!) filled my head and my heart. Y’all, I’m not trying to brag, but I have a ROCKSTAR home team. They’ve shown up at airports and graduations, with late night Blue Bell and Happy Hour Sonic, for the I-can’t-please-one-more-person breakdowns and the I-passed-this-awful-exam celebrations. They’ve supported, encouraged, celebrated, challenged, and carried me and one another. This week I was struck by the incredible privilege that it is to lift one another up in prayer, from thousands of miles away. To say, “I miss you, and I’m cheering for you. How can I intercede for you this week and encourage you to keep choosing Jesus?” I miss each of them with my whole heart, but I feel so honored to do life with them in spite of the distance. Hug your home team, in real life, in a text, in a FaceTime call, whatever it takes. They’re the good stuff, y’all. Love them big time.
